Hello, my name is Brother George Scruggs, Jr.; I lead the HELP ministry of Mt Olive Baptist Church (Denham Springs, Louisiana). As you may have read by now HELP stands for Highway Evangelism for Lost People. HELP is an open air/street preaching ministry with the purpose of bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Open air preaching is not our only evangelism method, at each HELP outing we also pass out hundreds (sometimes thousands) of Gospel tracts and engage people in individual soul winning and witnessing.

Jesus said "follow me and I will make you fishers of men". Many if not most evangelism efforts in America today are founded on trying to get the fish to jump into the boat, in other words, trying to get the lost to come to church. Praise God for those who get saved through those efforts, however, we should not forsake the Biblical model of getting our hooks in the water to catch the fish (people). This is where the "Highway" part of our name comes from. HELP travels the highways to the hedges of our land to bring the Gospel. But getting our hooks in the water also means individual Christians being obedient to God by sharing their faith with the lost. Not all Christians are given the gift of evangelism, but all Christians should evangelize.

HELP's secondary initiative is to teach Christians how to be Biblical open air preachers and individual soul winners. One way HELP teaches is by recording actual open air preaching and witnessing encounters to give a first hand look at what it's really like.
