Alternative to Halloween

Fun at Church!
Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. Psalm 32:11

Every year on the night Halloween is held Mt. Olive has an alternative to Halloween. At this function kids and adults alike have ample opportunity to take home prizes and candy. The Alternative to Halloween is a means to keep children off the streets on a dangerous night and provide Godly fun that's seperate from the world. We strive to keep this event seperate by not giving away Halloween candy and not participating in wearing costumes (even nice costumes). There are always plenty of games and activities (such as pony rides and classic cars) as well as the preaching of the Gospel at our Alternative to Halloween. Come and join us on Halloween night for a fun-filled, God honoring alternative. Be sure to contact us if you need further information.
Special thanks to all of our sponsers and Brother Jimmy Martin for this event.

Vaction Bible School
Every year Mt. Olive has Vacation Bible School on the first week after Indepedence Day. Kids ages 2 - 17 are invited to participate. Our theme for VBS is Soldiers for Christ. Indeed the Bible likens Christians to Soldiers, and VBS prepares kids to serve the Lord. At VBS the kids get to enjoy outdoor games, skits, singing, eating, special training (Bible teaching), puppet shows, and most importantly the preaching of the Gospel. VBS lasts 5 days and starts at 6 p.m. Our Bus Ministry runs the buses all week if you need a ride. VBS culminates with an award ceremony on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. Come join us for VBS, and please contact us if you require further information.

Old Fashioned Sunday
Every September Mt. Olive has Old Fashioned Sunday. On this day many church members will spend all day at the church house enjoying dinner on the grounds, games, talent shows, and Bible preaching. Many take the opportunity to dress up old fashioned; some dress as far back as the time of Moses, others to the time of Native Americans, the 1800's, the 50's and so on. Some dress old fashioned year round so they just need to show up! That was a joke and that's what this day is about, having fun and enjoying the Lord at His house (though we do encourage you to enjoy the Lord every Sunday and every day).
